zero color saturation

The Hue and Saturation tool controls color. Changing the HUE alters the balance of the color (for example shifting red to yellow). Changing the SATURATION alters the strength of the colour. If you DESATURATE (remove all color) you will be left with a MONOCHROME (black and white) image.

Step-By-Step:

Practical Tips:

Desaturate - There is a fast way to make a black and white image - the desaturate command.

Colorize - For some wild effects try the colorize command. It will put a colour wash over the entire image.
