Low Tech Tips and Photographic Tricks

Here are some ways to impress your friends. Be warned that most of these tricks are unpredictable at the best of times, so be prepared to experiment! These effects work with any camera, even snappy ones.

Capture the Moment:

Timing is everything. The instant you press that button, the world is frozen and captured on film.If a shot is in your viewfinder then TAKE IT. Don't waste time worrying about this and that, just hit the button ! After you get the first shot, THEN play with your exposure and shoot a second.

EXP_CROSSPROCESS
Cross proccessing your film freaks out the color and sends the contrast WAY UP. It's easy to try: Simply load your camera with SLIDE film. When you go to develop your film, ask the photo-lab to develop it in C41 chemicals. (The way all one-hour minilabs process most of their film). Be warned... some labs won't do it! better call and ask first. Most professional labs will cross-process slide film.

Try using different brands of slide film, they all react in unique ways to cross-processing.

Movement and Flash:

To try this, set your snappy camera to FLASH/BULB mode. The display on the camera will show a "B" with a lighting bolt (or something similar).

When in "B"ulb mode, the camera leaves its shutter open for as long as your finger is on the shutter button. The addition of the flash gives one sharper image burst.

After the camera is set to Flash/Bulb, you can go ahead and shoot!

Experiment with the length of time you hold down your finger, but anything longer than a second might get really messy (Unless you use a tripod)
